Sepsis is a medical emergency: the body’s response to infection can injure its own organs. The ICU is designed for rapid recognition, continuous monitoring, and support of failing organ systems while the underlying infection is treated.

• Early recognition and escalation pathways

• Continuous monitoring of blood pressure, oxygen, and organ function

• Intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and supportive medicines as indicated

• Coordination of renal support pathways when kidneys are failing

• Daily multidisciplinary review of goals and progress

Multi-Organ Support

Critically ill patients may need help with breathing, circulation, kidney function, or nutrition at the same time. Our team prioritises safety, infection control, and clear communication with families about what support is being given and why.

Working With Other Specialists

ICU consultants coordinate with medicine, surgery, infectious disease, and other specialties so treatment of the source infection and organ support move together.
