ICU Services
Post-Operative Critical Care
Recovery support after major abdominal, orthopaedic, gynaecological, and other complex surgical procedures.
After major surgery, some patients need a period of intensive monitoring before they are stable enough for a general ward. Our ICU provides that bridge — continuous observation, pain and fluid management, and early detection of complications.
Surgeries We Commonly Support
Major abdominal and gastrointestinal procedures
Complex orthopaedic and trauma surgery
Gynaecological and obstetric critical recovery when required
Other high-risk or prolonged operations where overnight ICU care is planned
What Post-Op ICU Care Includes
Patients receive one-to-one or high-ratio nursing, continuous vital signs monitoring, oxygen or ventilator support if needed, careful fluid and blood-pressure management, and coordinated pain control. The surgical and ICU teams work together on the recovery plan.
Length of Stay
Many post-operative patients transfer to a ward within 24–48 hours once stable. Longer stays depend on the operation, underlying illness, and recovery progress. Your consultant will discuss expected timelines during family updates.
Family Communication
We know waiting after surgery is stressful. A senior member of the team provides structured updates, and the nurse in charge can guide you on visiting and what to expect at the bedside.
