Zirconia Bridge
Strong, natural-looking zirconia bridges to replace missing teeth with lasting aesthetics and function.
A zirconia dental bridge is a fixed option for replacing one or more missing teeth while restoring appearance and chewing function.
Unlike a removable denture, a bridge stays fixed in the mouth. It uses neighbouring teeth, or implants in selected cases, to support the replacement tooth or teeth.
At Reliance Hospital Dental Clinic in Bahria Town Phase 4, Rawalpindi, treatment starts with an examination of the missing-tooth area, gums, bite and supporting teeth before a zirconia bridge is recommended.
Reliance Hospital provides restorative, endodontic, cosmetic and surgical dental care under one roof. Its dental team includes Lt. Col. (R) Dr. Rizwan Qureshi, whose work includes root canal treatment and restorative dentistry, as well as Dr. Ayesha Javed, Oral & Dental Surgeon with C-Implant training. Reliance also lists dental implants, bridges and crowns among its options for missing or damaged teeth.
The right replacement depends on the condition of your gums, neighbouring teeth, bone and overall bite.
Benefits of Zirconia
Zirconia is commonly selected for dental crowns and bridges because it combines strength with a tooth-coloured appearance.
A zirconia bridge may offer:
A fixed replacement for a missing tooth
A tooth-coloured result without a visible metal base
Strength for normal chewing
Shade matching with nearby natural teeth
Use in both visible and chewing areas when clinically suitable
A restoration that does not need to be removed every day like a removable denture
The final appearance depends on more than the material alone. Tooth shade, bridge design, gum position and the condition of neighbouring teeth all affect the result.
This is particularly important for bridges replacing front teeth, where the shape and shade need to work naturally with the rest of the smile.
If you are considering other cosmetic treatment at the same time, such as Teeth Whitening, discuss the treatment order with your dentist. Zirconia itself will not whiten later, so the final shade should be planned carefully.
Who It Helps
A zirconia bridge may be considered when one or more teeth are missing and you want a fixed replacement.
It may be suitable when:
One tooth is missing between existing teeth
More than one adjacent tooth needs replacement
The neighbouring teeth can safely support a bridge
You prefer a fixed restoration instead of a removable denture
An implant is not suitable or is not the option you want
A damaged tooth has already been treated and requires restorative planning
The dentist needs to assess the teeth on either side of the gap before recommending a conventional bridge.
Those supporting teeth must be strong enough to carry the restoration. If they have cavities, old restorations, gum problems or previous root canal treatment, this needs to be considered during treatment planning.
Patients with a badly damaged or infected supporting tooth may first need Root Canal Treatment or another restorative procedure.
For smaller areas of decay that do not require a crown, the dentist may instead recommend a Restorative Filling.
A dental implant can also be an alternative to a traditional bridge because it may replace the missing tooth without relying on neighbouring natural teeth. Reliance Hospital discusses implants alongside bridges, crowns and dentures when assessing options for missing teeth.
The best option depends on the individual case rather than simply choosing the most expensive or most cosmetic treatment.
Treatment Steps
Your treatment begins with a dental examination.
The dentist checks:
How many teeth are missing
The condition of the supporting teeth
Gum health around the area
Your bite
Existing crowns, fillings or root canal-treated teeth
Whether a bridge or implant is more appropriate
How many zirconia units will be required
If a conventional bridge is suitable, the supporting teeth are prepared so they can hold the restoration.
Impressions or digital scans are then taken for the custom bridge.
A temporary restoration may be used while the final zirconia bridge is being prepared.
At the fitting appointment, the dentist checks:
How the bridge sits against the gums
Contact with neighbouring teeth
Bite and chewing position
Shape and shade
Comfort
Overall appearance
Once the fit is satisfactory, the bridge is cemented into position.
Zirconia Bridge Cost at Reliance Hospital
According to the latest Reliance Hospital dental price list, the current price for a zirconia crown/unit is PKR 48,000.
The latest offer provides a 20% discount, bringing the price to:
Regular Price: PKR 48,000 per zirconia crown/unit
Discount: 20%
Current Offer: PKR 38,400 per unit
A bridge can require multiple units. For example, replacing one missing tooth with a conventional bridge may involve crowns on supporting teeth as well as the replacement tooth.
For that reason, the total zirconia bridge cost should be calculated only after the dentist confirms how many units are required.
This wording is much safer than advertising PKR 38,400 as the price of an entire bridge.
Care & Longevity
A zirconia bridge still needs daily cleaning even though the replacement tooth itself cannot develop a cavity.
The natural supporting teeth and gums can still develop decay or gum problems if plaque collects around the bridge.
After treatment:
Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste
Clean carefully around the bridge every day
Use floss threaders, interdental brushes or another cleaning method recommended by your dentist
Avoid repeatedly biting very hard objects
Attend regular dental examinations
Have professional cleaning when advised
Contact the clinic if the bridge feels loose or uncomfortable
Have persistent pain or sensitivity assessed rather than ignoring it
Cleaning underneath the replacement tooth is particularly important because food and plaque can collect in areas that an ordinary toothbrush cannot easily reach.
Patients with tartar buildup may also be advised to have Scaling & Polishing.
How long a bridge lasts varies from person to person. Oral hygiene, bite pressure, the health of the supporting teeth and regular dental care all affect its lifespan.
