Restorative Filling

Durable fillings to repair cavities and restore the shape and function of damaged teeth.

A restorative filling repairs a tooth damaged by decay, wear, or a small fracture so you can chew comfortably again. At Reliance Hospital Dental Clinic, we remove the damaged portion, clean the area, and place a filling that restores shape, strength, and bite — with written pricing before treatment starts.

When a Filling Is Needed

  • Cavities from decay that have not reached the nerve

  • Worn or chipped enamel that catches food or feels sharp

  • An old filling that has cracked, leaked, or fallen out

  • Sensitivity when eating sweets, cold drinks, or chewing

  • A dark spot or hole your dentist finds on exam or X-ray

What Happens at the Appointment

After numbing the tooth, we remove decay, shape the cavity, and place the filling in layers so it bonds securely. Bite is checked and adjusted so the tooth meets naturally. Most simple fillings are completed in a single visit.

Materials We Use

The right filling depends on the tooth, the size of the cavity, and how visible it is when you smile. Durable restorative fillings are chosen for strength in chewing areas. If you prefer a tooth-coloured result, we also offer composite and laser-assisted options — we will recommend what will last, not only what looks nicest in photos.

Aftercare

Avoid very hard foods on the treated side until numbness wears off. Mild sensitivity can last a few days. Brush and floss as usual, and keep your next check-up so we can spot new decay early. If pain lingers or the bite feels high, call us — a small adjustment is often all that is needed.
